COLT SINGE ACTION ARMY |
The Single Action Army has been manufactured since 1872, except during the war years, and the total production is divided up into three main catagories by collectors (First Generation [1872-1940], Second Generation [1956-1978, Third Generation [1978-Present]), however the first generation is what we are primarily interested in here, although we do have several examples of a later vintage that will be listed. The total production for the First Generation series was about357,859, including both models of Bisleys, 310,386 of which were the standard model. Those with serial numbers under 182000 were manufactured befor 31 December 1898, and are black powder cartride revolvers. This particular pistol has a four and three-quarter inch barrel, with standard hard rubber grips and is chambered for the 44-40 caliber. From the factory the finish was a casehardened frame and hammer with the remainder being blued. All of the serial numbers on this particular revolver do match. |
